The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has generated N175 million from the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms for the Edo State governorship election. The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the election for September 21, 2024, with the PDP setting February 22, 2024, for the congress to select its gubernatorial candidate.
The PDP commenced the sale of the forms on Wednesday in Abuja, with each aspirant required to pay N35 million—N5 million for the expression of interest form and N30 million for the nomination form. As of now, five aspirants have purchased the forms, including Blessing Igbinedion, Philip Shaibu (Edo State Deputy Governor), Asue Ighodalo, Felix Akhabue, and Anslem Ojezua, bringing the total revenue from the forms to N175 million.
The funds generated will contribute to the party’s financial resources as it prepares for the governorship election in Edo State.
