Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has publicly rejected the governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Benard Odoh, who challenged him in court after the 2023 general election. Speaking at a celebration event, Governor Nwifuru stated that the two candidates, who contested against him in the election, are not needed in his administration.
Nwifuru recounted his efforts to reconcile with Odii and Odoh, expressing disappointment that despite his plea for them to discontinue the legal battle, they persisted. He claimed to have approached Odii in Lagos, reaching an agreement that he would withdraw the case, only to be served with court papers the next day. The governor criticized the candidates for not congratulating him after his victory and emphasized that the Supreme Court’s ruling in his favor demonstrated that justice is not for sale.
The governor categorically stated that he doesn’t need the support or fellowship of Odii and Odoh, urging his supporters not to associate with them. Nwifuru emphasized his commitment to serving those who actively supported him in the election.
