In response to the recent Supreme Court ruling on the Zamfara governorship election, the Bello Mohammed Matawalle Zamfara Governorship Campaign Council has officially accepted the decision. The statement, signed by Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, the Deputy Chairman of the Campaign Committee 2023, urges the party’s supporters to respect the apex court’s judgment.
According to a report, the Supreme Court’s decision affirmed the victory of Governor Dauda Lawal in the 2023 governorship elections. This outcome marks the end of Bello Mohammed Matawalle’s political journey in Zamfara, as he now serves in the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu.
The statement acknowledges the challenges faced by the state, including banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling, and the imposition of taxes and levies by armed bandits. It emphasizes that the Supreme Court’s final judgment provides an opportunity for politicians, regardless of party affiliation, to unite and work towards restoring security and addressing the pressing issues affecting the state.
Quoting the statement, “The verdict of the Supreme Court is a terminal bus stop to litigations on Zamfara State Governorship Election.” It urges Governor Dauda Lawal to focus on progressive governance, emphasizing key elements such as consensus-oriented, accountable, transparent, responsive, effective, efficient, equitable, and inclusive governance.
The call is made for Governor Dauda Lawal to rule the state with the fear of God and deliver dividends of democracy to alleviate the sufferings of the people. The statement recognizes the Judiciary’s role in upholding democratic practices and constitutional principles.
The closing remarks encourage members of the APC family not to be demoralized but to remain focused and united in building the party for the upcoming 2027 general election, ensuring continued service to the people of Zamfara State.
