Renowned Nigerian actor, Samuel Ajibola, popularly known for his portrayal of Spiff, an imbecilic clown in the soap opera ‘The Johnsons,’ has disclosed the reasons behind his decision to exit the long-running television serial. Ajibola cited his desire to pursue personal dreams as the driving force behind his departure.
In a recent interview with Channels TV, the talented thespian explained that he spent nine years investing in someone else’s dream at ‘The Johnsons.’ Even before his departure, Ajibola had initiated his venture, DAILY Issues, focusing on comedy skits, which commenced in 2016. The actor emphasized that he was building his own path as an emerging producer and director.
Ajibola expressed the need to step out of his comfort zone despite the recognition he received for his role in ‘The Johnsons.’ He highlighted his adventurous nature and risk-taking tendencies, stating, “I needed to leave because, naturally, I’m a very adventurous person. And I’m a big risk-taker. I was well aware of the risk I was going to take, like I said, I listened to my guts and till date I haven’t regretted it.”
The actor affirmed that leaving ‘The Johnsons’ has been a transformative experience, providing him with the opportunity to redefine himself as a producer and director. Ajibola’s departure from the soap opera marks a significant chapter in his career as he continues to pursue his creative aspirations and carve a niche for himself in the entertainment industry.
