Tragedy struck in Niger State as the Police Command confirmed the brutal murder of Idris Ahmadu from Nasarawa village, Lapai Local Government, allegedly by his newlywed wife, Aisha Aliyu.
The incident transpired in the early hours of Monday, with Aisha reportedly stabbing her husband to death before absconding from the scene. DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Police Command, disclosed the grim details in Minna, emphasizing that the suspect’s whereabouts remain unknown.
“In the early hours, one Idris Ahmadu of Nasarawa village, via Lapai was stabbed to death by his wife, Aisha Aliyu, 19/20yrs of the same address,” stated DSP Abiodun.
He further mentioned that the police, upon receiving the information, launched a manhunt to apprehend the fleeing suspect, intensifying efforts to secure her arrest.
The investigation into the case is currently ongoing, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
According to a source familiar with the matter, the ill-fated couple had a minor altercation on Sunday evening, which was seemingly resolved before retiring to bed. However, in the dead of night, the victim’s mother was awakened by his screams, leading to the gruesome discovery of his lifeless body in a pool of blood, while Aisha was conspicuously absent from the scene.
It was revealed that the couple had tied the knot on December 31, 2023, following a courtship that spanned several years. However, discord reportedly arose when Aisha expressed reluctance to marry Idris, having developed feelings for another man. Despite family intervention, she reluctantly acquiesced to the marriage.
