President Bola Tinubu has acknowledged that the recent removal of fuel subsidy has caused hardship for the general public.
In his inaugural Democracy Day address to Nigerians on Monday, Tinubu expressed his understanding of the difficulties faced by the masses, emphasizing the need for them to make sacrifices for the betterment of the entire nation.
According to the president, the temporary discomfort resulting from the subsidy removal was necessary to prevent the country from sinking further.
He stated, “I empathize with your pain. This decision is something we must endure in order to rescue our country from collapsing and liberate our resources from the control of a few unpatriotic individuals.
“I recognize that this decision will place an additional burden on the masses of our people. Regrettably, I have called upon you, my fellow citizens, to bear a little more in order to secure the survival of our country.”
