Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, spoke at the combined 9th undergraduate and 5th postgraduate convocation ceremonies of Adeleke University, Ede, Osun State, where he advised that age should not be seen as a barrier to pursuing educational dreams. He shared that one of the conditions he was given before his 2022 governorship ambition was to complete his education.
The governor highlighted the importance of education, stating that after losing the 2018 governorship election, he was subjected to personality attacks and assaults, and he had to leave the country to complete his degree programme. His elder brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke, insisted that he must complete his education before pursuing his governorship ambition.
Governor Ademola Adeleke emphasized that age should never hinder anyone from pursuing education and achieving their dreams. He shared his personal experience of successfully re-enrolling and completing his degree programme at an older age, returning as a brand new graduate to re-contest in 2022. Adeleke thanked his family and friends for their support during his educational journey.
In his remarks, Dr. Deji Adeleke, the founder of Adeleke University, called on Nigerians to take responsibility for the country’s betterment. He urged those who desire a good country to contribute their quota to nation-building instead of apportioning blame to those in positions of authority. Adeleke emphasized the need for commitment and passion to drive positive change in the nation.
