Aiyedatiwa shared these insights with journalists on Thursday following a meeting with President Tinubu in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Aiyedatiwa assumed the role of governor on Wednesday, succeeding the late Rotimi Akeredolu, who passed away due to complications from prostate cancer. In his interaction with reporters after the meeting, Aiyedatiwa disclosed that he updated the president on recent developments in the state.
Expressing gratitude, the new governor referred to President Tinubu as a “father figure” during this critical period for Ondo State. Aiyedatiwa conveyed, “I’m here to see Mr. President, to further brief him on the events that happened in our state — the loss of our governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu.”
Acknowledging the support received from the president, Aiyedatiwa emphasized the significance of ensuring continuity in governance. “I also let him know that I have just been sworn in because there can never be a vacuum,” he stated.
Aiyedatiwa shared that President Tinubu provided valuable advice, encouraging him to rally and mobilize everyone to work together for the advancement of the state. Reflecting on the meeting, the governor noted, “So, it’s basically advice and to also encourage me to take charge and mobilise everybody and to pull everybody together to work together and see how we can move the state forward.”
