Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Anambra State, Jude Ezenwafor, has described his recent brush with death as a divine sign that he is destined to become governor.
In an exclusive interview on Arise News Thursday night, Ezenwafor confirmed that he narrowly survived an assassination attempt in Abuja last month. The attack, he said, left him physically injured and emotionally shaken.
“They rained bullets all over my body, but I am bouncing back,” he told the network.
Now walking with the aid of a stick and still limping from the incident, the PDP candidate revealed that Thursday marked the first time since the attack that he wore trousers—another personal milestone in his recovery.
“It was traumatising. But I’m here. It’s a sign—I believe strongly that I’m meant to govern Anambra State.”
Reacting to false reports of his death that circulated in the wake of the attack, Ezenwafor said the incident reminded him of life’s fragility.
“It was a lesson. A reminder that death can come at any moment—but not for me, not yet. This only confirms I have a purpose to fulfill.”
The attack has drawn concern across party lines, with supporters rallying behind the PDP hopeful ahead of the high-stakes Anambra governorship race.
