A woman named Amaka Okonkwo has been arrested for allegedly pouring a mixture of hot water and pepper on her tenant over a dispute regarding rent increment. The incident took place in Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria, on August 17, 2023.
The victim, Imabong William, hailing from Akwa Ibom State, is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Nawfia. Imabong requested time to find a new place, but the landlady allegedly attacked her while she was washing clothes, pouring a mixture of hot water and pepper on her from behind.
In response to the incident, Anambra State’s Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Hon Ify Obinabo, announced that the alleged perpetrator, Amaka Okonkwo, has been arrested and is currently in custody at the Nimo police station.
