AnambraDecides2025: INEC Uploads 36.99% of Governorship Election Results on IReV Portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 36.99 percent of the results from the ongoing Anambra State governorship election to its official Result Viewing Portal (IReV) as of 3:52 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025. The update, monitored on the INEC portal, shows that the process of result collation and uploading is gradually progressing despite reports of delays and logistical challenges in some parts of the state.

According to information available on the INEC website, results from 2,116 polling units out of the 5,718 polling units where voting took place have so far been successfully transmitted. This means that more than half of the polling units are yet to have their results uploaded, as collation officers and presiding officials continue the process across the 21 local government areas of the state.

The uploading of results to the IReV portal is one of the major innovations introduced by INEC to enhance transparency and real-time monitoring of elections in Nigeria. The system allows voters, observers, political parties, and the media to track election results as they are being submitted from polling units nationwide. The Anambra 2025 election, therefore, represents another key test of INEC’s technological capacity and commitment to open electoral processes.

Reports from various polling centres indicate that voting and counting were largely peaceful in most areas, though some parties and observers have raised concerns about alleged cases of vote buying and attempts to influence voters. The Labour Party candidate was among those who publicly alleged that financial inducement was observed in parts of the state. Similarly, the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Chukwuma Soludo, also expressed concern about similar practices in Nnewi South, even as he maintained confidence in his chances of winning re-election.

Observers have commended the general conduct of the election so far but urged INEC to ensure that every polling unit result is uploaded promptly to eliminate suspicion and enhance public confidence in the process. Civil society organizations monitoring the exercise have also called on political actors to remain patient as INEC completes collation and verification of results before official announcements are made.

The gradual progress in uploading results reflects both the complexity of Nigeria’s electoral environment and the logistical hurdles faced by field officers, especially in rural and riverine areas where network connectivity remains a major issue. Despite these challenges, the commission has repeatedly assured Nigerians that all results will be transmitted and made available on the IReV portal as soon as possible.

INEC officials in Awka, the state capital, confirmed that collation was ongoing at local government headquarters, with results trickling in from different wards. Security personnel were also seen maintaining order at collation centres to prevent disruption of the process. Meanwhile, political party agents have continued to monitor the upload closely to ensure transparency and accuracy.

The Anambra governorship election remains a focal point for national attention, as it is widely regarded as a barometer for the Independent National Electoral Commission’s preparedness ahead of future general elections. Many political analysts believe that the commission’s handling of the IReV platform and its ability to complete timely uploads could significantly influence public trust in Nigeria’s electoral process going forward.

As of the time of filing this report, INEC had yet to release official figures for total votes cast or announce leading candidates. The final outcome will depend largely on the timely completion of uploads, verification, and collation across the remaining polling units. Nigerians at home and abroad continue to monitor the IReV platform, waiting to see the conclusion of one of the most closely watched state elections of 2025.
