In the aftermath of the recent Supreme Court judgments, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to issue an apology to the judiciary for what it termed as “senseless and irresponsible attacks” during the electoral process. The APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, stated that the party has accepted the outcomes of the Supreme Court’s rulings.
Morka expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the election results in Lagos, Ebonyi, and Cross River States in favor of the APC’s governorship candidates. However, he acknowledged that the appeals on governorship polls in Kano, Zamfara, Bauchi, Plateau, and Abia States were decided in favor of other political parties, and the APC has accepted these outcomes.
In a released statement, Morka emphasized the finality and binding nature of the Supreme Court’s decisions, describing them as a strong affirmation of the authority, vibrancy, and independence of the judiciary. He noted that the APC has consistently advocated for allowing the judiciary to perform its duty of resolving disputes, including electoral disputes, as mandated by the constitution.
Morka called on the PDP to tender an “unreserved apology to the courts and our judges” for what he described as “senseless, irresponsible, reckless, and unjustified attacks” against the judiciary throughout the electoral cycle. He urged everyone to remain calm and maintain peace, congratulating the winners and wishing them success in serving their states and the country.
