Engr. Kailani Muhammad, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and national chairman of Tinubu Support Network (TSN), has made a startling claim that traditional rulers and governors have been involved in oil theft for decades, alongside the military. His statement came in response to recent allegations by Asari Dokubo regarding oil theft in the Niger Delta region.
According to Muhammad, the scale of oil theft, which amounts to billions of dollars, extends beyond the military’s involvement. He asserted that influential traditional rulers and governors have also played a role in this illicit activity since 1983. Emphasizing the significance of oil revenue for Nigeria’s mono-economy, he called upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action against anyone found sabotaging the country’s source of revenue.
Muhammad further suggested that Tinubu should extend the investigation into the activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to the tenure of former CBN Governor Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. By addressing these issues, Muhammad believes Tinubu can secure the necessary resources to fulfill his “renewed hope” campaign promises and deliver tangible improvements to the citizens.
The allegations made by Muhammad shed light on the complex nature of oil theft in Nigeria and the involvement of various influential figures.
