Tony Okocha, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no justification for allocating the state’s ministerial slot to either Rotimi Amaechi or Senator Magnus Abe. Okocha alleged that both Amaechi and Abe undermined Tinubu’s chances in the state and advised the president to consider appointing the immediate past governor, Nyesom Wike, as the ministerial representative for Rivers.
According to Okocha, Wike supported Tinubu’s presidential ambitions both financially and materially. He claimed that it was widely known that Amaechi worked for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, during the elections, while Abe, who secured the governorship ticket of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), supported the SDP flag bearer.
Okocha, who previously served as the chief of staff to Amaechi when he was governor of Rivers state, stated, “The point I’m making is neither Amaechi and his group nor Magnus Abe and his group worked for Tinubu. What helped us in Rivers state is the foolishness of the PDP, which we all know. At the center of that is the spin doctor, Nyesom Wike, the governor of my state.”
