As the people of Kogi State gear up for the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for November 11, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed confidence in an overwhelming victory, anticipating “nothing less than 99 percent victory votes” for the party.
Ganduje made these remarks while addressing APC members and supporters during the official inauguration of the party’s National and State Campaign Councils for the upcoming election. He conveyed his belief that Kogi State, being a traditional stronghold of the APC, would rally behind the ruling party once again.
He stated, “Today we are officially inaugurating the state campaign committee that will join hands with the national campaign committee and the LGAs campaign committees to ensure victory at the polls.”
Highlighting the successful governance under Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration, Ganduje expressed optimism about the party’s prospects with its gubernatorial candidate, Usman Ododo, in office. He underscored Ododo’s credentials as a loyal and hardworking individual, known to the people of Kogi.
Ganduje further shared that President Bola Tinubu had pledged to create a conducive environment for a peaceful and credible governorship election in the state.
In a show of unity and support, Yahaya Bello, the incumbent Governor of Kogi State, assured the citizens that the APC remained their preferred choice, provided they had a credible and articulate candidate. He highlighted the political acumen, experience, and competence of the APC gubernatorial flagbearer as assets that would elevate Kogi’s development to the next level.
During the campaign inauguration event, Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State, took the helm of the national campaign council, while Yahaya Bello assumed leadership of the state campaign council. In his acceptance speech, Abiodun pledged his council’s unwavering commitment to work alongside Governor Yahaya Bello’s state campaign council to conduct a robust and peaceful campaign. The goal is to attract support from across the political spectrum and secure a resounding victory for the APC and its gubernatorial candidate.
As the election date draws near, political activities in Kogi State are set to intensify, with the APC expressing strong confidence in its chances of retaining power and steering the state towards further progress.
