Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has disclosed that the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, is currently incapacitated. Adamu made this statement during a meeting between the national leadership of the APC and state chairmen.
Addressing the APC state chairmen, Adamu revealed that Governor Akeredolu is currently hospitalised overseas and wished him a speedy recovery. The exact nature of the governor’s ailment has not been disclosed.
Furthermore, Adamu stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is engaged in extensive consultations before finalizing his ministerial list. According to Adamu, the president is taking his time to gather input and recommendations before making his nominations for ministerial positions.
The national chairman explained that the process will involve the screening of nominees and their subsequent appointment by the president. Only after this process will the president disclose the names of the ministers and their assigned ministries.
This revelation by Adamu comes shortly after Governor Akeredolu wrote to the Ondo State House of Assembly to extend his medical leave indefinitely. The governor, who has been receiving medical treatment and had previously designated his deputy as the acting governor, had initially planned to resume duty this week but decided to extend his leave.
The extended absence of Governor Akeredolu has implications for the upcoming 2024 governorship election in Ondo State, as it introduces new dynamics and uncertainties into the political landscape.
