In a disturbing turn of events, Hon. Kawu Ibrahim Yakasai, the Organizing Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and former Chairman of Soba Local Government, was abducted from his residence in Yakasai village, Kaduna State. The incident unfolded on Friday at approximately 10:00 pm, as armed bandits infiltrated the peaceful village located in Soba LGA.
Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the assailants singled out Yakasai’s home, forcibly taking him under the cover of darkness. The targeted abduction left the community in shock and apprehension.
As news of the abduction spread, residents of Soba expressed their distress, with Lawal Sani, a local resident, fervently praying for the safe release of the abducted politician. An unnamed member of the ruling party executive committee corroborated the incident, expressing deep concern for Yakasai’s well-being.
Mohammed Lawal Shehu, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uba Sani, verified the incident and stated that the governor had promptly ordered security agencies to initiate a rescue mission. Governor Uba Sani emphasized his commitment to the safety of all citizens in Kaduna state and highlighted the employment of 7000 vigilantes as part of the comprehensive security strategy.
However, the whereabouts of Hon. Yakasai remain undisclosed, raising fears for his safety and well-being. The police authorities in Kaduna, represented by DSP Mohammed Jalige, have not yet provided a response to inquiries about the incident.
