Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has expressed his belief that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will make a comeback to offer Nigerians a responsive government. He conveyed this sentiment through a statement released by his Media Office in Abuja on Friday.
Atiku Abubakar acknowledged the PDP’s pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s contemporary democracy and its commitment to ensuring not only the survival of democracy in the country but also its thriving.
As one of the founding fathers of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar expressed pride in his involvement in nurturing the party from its inception to becoming a vital agent of socio-political and economic development in Nigeria.
Highlighting the achievements of the PDP during the 16 years it held power in Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar noted that the party had provided quality leadership through various administrations. He emphasized that the accomplishments made during those 16 years still served as benchmarks for positive growth in the nation’s economy and other critical areas of national life.
Additionally, he underscored the PDP’s significant role in dismantling military rule in Nigeria. Given the unique challenges faced by Nigeria and other African countries, Atiku Abubakar believed that the PDP should once again rise to the occasion to address economic hardships and other structural deficiencies negatively impacting the people over the past nearly eight and a half years.
