Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku Abubakar, has made serious allegations against former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. According to Shaibu, both politicians have been monitoring judges at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal as it winds down.
Shaibu expressed his concern over the duo’s attendance at a memorial service hosted by the President of the Appeal Court, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, in Plateau State. He alleged that Wike and Makinde were not invited to the event, and their presence there could be an attempt to influence the appellate court where the current tribunal judges are from.
The Atiku aide further accused Wike of using “dubious means” to get close to judges and offering them gifts under the guise of welfare. He also raised questions about the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, and his alleged connections with Governor Makinde and other political figures.
Shaibu’s allegations come amidst the ongoing presidential election petition case, and he pointed to Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa’s previous confession as evidence supporting Atiku’s position. Senator Bulkachuwa had admitted to influencing his wife, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, who is a former President of the Appeal Court, to grant favors to his colleagues in the Senate.
