In a tragic turn of events, bandits who kidnapped Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar and his six children have killed one of the abducted persons, identified as Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, a 400-level student of biological science at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. The incident occurred in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
The victims were abducted on Tuesday night, with the kidnappers initially demanding a ransom of N60 million. However, it has been reported that the ransom demand has now increased to N100 million. Alhaji Mansoor’s brother, Abdulfatai, who attempted to foil the abduction, was shot dead by the bandits.
The news of Nabeeha’s death has sparked outrage on social media, with the hashtag #Najeebahandhersisters trending. Many social media users have called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the remaining abducted individuals.
In response to the increased ransom demand, the family and well-wishers of the victims have taken to social media to solicit funds towards their rescue. The family member Sherifdeen shared on social media, “To support the efforts in securing their freedom, we humbly seek financial assistance. We have provided bank details on my Facebook page.”
Prominent figures, including former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Prof. Isa Pantami and former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad, expressed condolences and urged the police to respond urgently to the situation. The force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, emphasized that the police and other security agencies are actively working to rescue the remaining abducted persons.
