Bandits who abducted 23 individuals, including four children, from Kawu in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have released seven of the victims. The released individuals were given the task of raising over N20 million as ransom to secure the freedom of the remaining captives. The victims were kidnapped last Wednesday night, and the release was conditioned on the payment of a substantial sum along with two special motorcycles.
One of the released victims, Alhaji Alhassan Sidi, whose four children are still in captivity, was among those freed. Alhaji Gambo S. Fawa (Sarkin Fawa) was also released along with his two wives and another young man. The families of the victims are reportedly facing challenges in raising the demanded ransom as they lack valuable assets or properties to sell.
The FCT Police Command is actively engaged in rescue operations and investigations, working to bring the perpetrators to justice and secure the release of the remaining hostages. The police spokesperson emphasized the commitment to intensifying efforts in both rescue operations and investigations.
