Benue State Governor, Fr Hayicnth Alia, criticized the leadership of Dunamis International Gospel Centre for the collapse of a church building in the early hours of Tuesday, resulting in the death of the resident pastor, Ahmed Sunday, and injuries to others. The Governor, expressing disappointment, visited the site and did not find any church leaders present.
Governor Alia declared the building poorly constructed and announced plans for its revocation. He emphasized the need for the church leadership to be aware of the law, stating that the land had been revoked to prevent further loss of lives. The Governor called for the evacuation of those residing along waterways for safety.
Concerned about the approval process for the structure, Governor Alia called for an investigation into the engineers or architects involved in the project. He stressed the importance of preventing such incidents in the future and urged the Ministry of Works, Housing, and Urban Development to intervene.
It’s noteworthy that Dunamis Church, where the tragic incident occurred, is led by Dr Paul Enenche.
