In a tragic incident, the Federal Government has reported that a bomb blast has resulted in the death of one operative from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the destruction of three electricity transmission towers along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road.
The General Manager of Public Affairs at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Ndidi Mbah, conveyed this disheartening news in a statement released on Friday. According to TCN, the explosive incident occurred on Thursday, causing significant damage to three transmission lines.
The statement from TCN reads, “The Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN hereby confirms the destruction of three of its towers along Maiduguri-Damaturu Transmission Line with explosives yesterday 28th December, 2023.”
In addition to the infrastructure damage, the blast claimed the life of a dedicated NSCDC officer, marking a somber day for TCN. Expressing condolences, the statement further stated, “It’s truly another very sad day for us at TCN, with this incident, especially with the loss of life of the NSCDC official. TCN commiserates with the family of the deceased and the NSCDC for this very sad and shocking incident.”
