Adamu Ibrahim, a resident of Dikechiri in the Bayan Gidan Dambe area of Maiduguri, has been apprehended as the primary suspect in the tragic murder of his 24-year-old wife, Fatima Alhaji-Bukar, in their family residence. The incident, which transpired on the 18th of October, has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Ibrahim’s arrest came following a gruesome discovery when he, accompanied by his friend Bukar Diya, brought the lifeless body of his wife to the attention of the Gwange Division of the local police. This tragic report has raised suspicions among law enforcement officers.
Upon initial questioning, Ibrahim explained that he returned from work around 5:00 p.m. and found his wife, Fatima, lying in a pool of her own blood. His account of the events immediately drew the attention of the police.
According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Sani Kamilu, subsequent investigations revealed that Adamu Ibrahim was the prime suspect in this horrifying murder. The statement issued on Friday outlines the chain of events leading to the arrests.
“On October 18, 2023, one Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim of Dikechiri Bayan Gidan Dambe area, Maiduguri, went to Gwange Division, accompanied by one Bukar Wadiya, conveying the body of a woman whom he claimed to be his wife and sought for emergency help from the police,” Kamilu reported.
The preliminary investigation has unveiled that prior to this tragic incident, the couple had been embroiled in domestic disputes, primarily related to an alleged extramarital affair involving the husband within their matrimonial home.
Kamilu went on to explain that during the search of the crime scene, various items were discovered, including a short pestle, a bag, rope, a rug carpet stained with blood, a knife, a Honda vehicle, and a mucus-stained pillow. Notably, there was no evidence of forced entry into the house, as only the husband possessed the key to the residence.
Both Adamu Ibrahim and his friend, Bukar Wadiya, were subsequently arrested as prime suspects in this distressing case. A discreet investigation is currently underway, with the intention of gathering sufficient evidence for a prospective prosecution. The local community anxiously awaits the resolution of this harrowing tragedy as the legal process unfolds.
