The member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ojema Ojotu, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ojotu, who currently serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Inland Waterways, announced his defection in a letter read during Tuesday’s plenary session by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who presided over the proceedings.
In his letter, Ojotu explained that his decision followed prolonged internal crises within the PDP, which had made it difficult for him to continue under the party’s platform.
“After due consultation with my constituents, family members, and political associates, I have decided to dump the PDP for the APC,” the lawmaker stated.
His defection marks another major political shift within Benue State, as more opposition lawmakers continue to align with the ruling APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
