President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday presided over a meeting of the Council of State currently taking place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting, which began around 1:29 p.m., is expected to deliberate on key national issues, including the appointment of a new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the meeting’s agenda, President Tinubu is set to present three nominees for consideration as the next INEC Chairman.

Prof. Lai Olurede
The development comes just 48 hours after Prof. Mahmood Yakubu vacated his position as INEC Chairman.
All three nominees being considered as Yakubu’s possible successor are seasoned academics and professionals.
