The Delta State Police Command has issued a stern warning, declaring its intention to arrest and charge to court Nigerians with suspicious sources of wealth who cannot provide justifiable means of income. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, individuals unable to explain the origin of their wealth may face legal consequences.
In a social media post on Sunday, Edafe expressed concern over the prevalent trend where people resist inquiries into what he referred to as “suspicious wealth.” He highlighted the increasing cases of ritual killings, kidnapping, and internet fraud in the country, emphasizing the need for law enforcement to address such issues.
Edafe clarified that while the police urge their operatives to uphold ethical standards and avoid extortion, individuals arrested without a clear justification for their income sources would undergo thorough investigation. He insisted that those found with questionable wealth would be charged to court once the investigation reveals any wrongdoing.
The police spokesman concluded the statement with a straightforward declaration, stating, “Like me, hate me, I don’t mind, it’s the simple truth.” The announcement reflects the commitment of the Delta State Police Command to address financial irregularities and combat criminal activities associated with unexplained wealth in the region.
