The Citizens Quest for Truth Initiative, an accountability advocacy Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with a focus on the Niger Delta environment, has expressed its congratulations to Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, on his reappointment as the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). This appointment is seen as a recognition of his effective management of the Commission’s affairs over the past months.
The organization extended its gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making the appointment and for reconstituting the NDDC Board. It believes that this reconstituted Board holds the promise of bringing a renewed sense of hope to the beleaguered Niger Delta region and its people.
The Citizens Quest for Truth Initiative also reiterated its call for an urgent review of the Niger Delta master plan, emphasizing that the plan’s lifespan has surpassed its contemporary relevance.
The organization expressed its commitment to supporting both the reconstituted NDDC Board and the Federal Government in achieving their goals, as long as these efforts are aimed at advancing the welfare of the Niger Delta people and the nation as a whole.
In its message to the Ogbuku-led Board, the organization expressed hope for a tenure marked by transparency and efficiency. It called for a streamlined verification process and prompt payment of contractors and consultants. The full implementation of the Forensic Audit Report was highlighted as a critical step towards renewing the hope of not only Niger Deltans but all Nigerians.
The Citizens Quest for Truth Initiative concluded its statement by extending congratulations, expressing its dedication to the NDDC’s success, and invoking well-wishes for the Niger Delta and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
