The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the election of Abdullahi Sule as the Governor of Nasarawa State, setting aside the October 2 judgment of the Nasarawa State Election Petitions Tribunal. The tribunal had earlier nullified the victory of Governor Sule and declared David Ombugadu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the winner of the governorship election.
In delivering the judgment, the three-member panel of the Court of Appeal held that the tribunal made a legal error in concluding that Governor Sule did not secure the majority of the votes cast in the election. The decision affirms Governor Abdullahi Sule’s legitimacy as the elected governor of Nasarawa State.
