Emmanuel Ogbeche, the spokesperson for Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State, has acknowledged that the new administration inherited a “rundown” state. Speaking to members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Calabar, Ogbeche emphasized that the state was in a poor condition and would require the collective support and collaboration of all stakeholders to improve the situation.
Ogbeche expressed confidence in Governor Otu’s ability to turn things around, stating that he is up to the task. He noted that the state lacked proper records, and even approvals were given through WhatsApp messages, highlighting the need for significant efforts to bring about positive change.
While soliciting the support of the NUJ, Ogbeche assured the union that Governor Otu would also support them. He emphasized his commitment to giving his all to justify the governor’s trust and confidence. Ogbeche, a former chairman of the Abuja council and a member of the union, pledged to foster a robust relationship between the governor and media practitioners in the state.
Nsa Gill, the Chairperson of the NUJ in Cross River State, congratulated Ogbeche on his appointment and assured him that the union’s members would work together to ensure his success in his new role.
