Dangote Refinery has assured Nigerians that refined products, particularly diesel and aviation fuel, will be available in the market this month, January. The $20 billion refinery, which recently announced the commencement of production, has promised to meet domestic demands for petroleum products.
The refinery’s president, Aliko Dangote, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support and leadership, stating that the project’s success would not have been possible without his intervention. Dangote also acknowledged the support of NNPC, NUPRC, and NMDPRA, as well as the belief and support of Nigerians in the project.
Dangote emphasized the significance of the milestone, noting that the production of diesel and aviation fuel has begun, and the products will hit the market within the month, pending regulatory approvals. He commended the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including the government of Lagos State, bankers, financiers, host communities, and staff members.
The refinery, designed for 100% Nigerian crude with the flexibility to process other crudes, aims to fulfill 100% of Nigeria’s requirements for refined products such as gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and aviation fuel. It also has surplus production for export.
Key features of the Dangote Refinery include its ability to handle various crude grades, its self-sufficient marine facility with large vessel handling capacity, and compliance with international emission norms. The refinery’s strategic location, 25 kilometers from the shore, allows for efficient crude delivery through its Single Point Mooring System (SPM).
