In a candid interview with Arise Television, Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for the forthcoming election in Kogi State, revealed that he has survived four assassination attempts. Melaye, a former senator, shared insights into the political landscape of Kogi State, emphasizing the prevalence of tension and violence since the All Progressives Congress (APC) assumed power seven years ago.
During the interview, Melaye highlighted the challenges faced by the people of Kogi State and expressed his commitment to addressing them. He described the state as an “evil forest” in need of rapid redevelopment and a messiah to bring about positive change.
Melaye narrated his personal experiences, stating, “I have survived four assassination attempts, I have had 12 court cases of FG vs. Dino Melaye, and I have been attacked severally.” He attributed the climate of violence to the APC’s approach to governance.
According to Melaye, the current state of Kogi is marked by deep divisions and disunity, a situation that has worsened since the APC took control. As part of his agenda, Melaye aims to reunite the state and promote a sense of shared destiny among the people.
The PDP candidate’s campaign slogan, “One Kogi, One Destiny,” reflects his commitment to fostering unity and addressing the challenges faced by the state. As the gubernatorial election approaches, Melaye remains focused on bringing positive change and healing to the people of Kogi.
