Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Services, DSS, has confirmed the arrest of an aide to controversial Islamic cleric, Abubakar Ahmad Gumi, Tukur Mamu.
Mamu’s arrest was confirmed on Wednesday and signed by the DSS Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunaya.
The DSS stated that the bandit negotiator was apprehended based on requests from Nigeria’s Military, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence Community to their foreign partners in Cairo, Egypt.
The agency said Mamu was arrested to answer critical questions on ongoing investigations relating to some security matters in parts of the country.
