The Commissioner for Aviation and Technology in Ebonyi State, Mrs. Ngozi Obichukwu, has announced that the state government will allocate ₦13.7 billion for the renovation of the worn-out runway at Chuba Okadigbo International Airport in Onueke. The contract for this project has been awarded to the Infrastructure Development Company, and it is expected to be completed within a maximum of eight months.
Obichukwu emphasized that the revitalized runway will significantly enhance the economic viability and development of the state.
She also provided details about the progress of the project, mentioning the installation of an asphalt plant and the presence of various construction equipment on-site, such as excavators, bulldozers, pay-loaders, cranes, water tankers, trucks, bituminous tanks, and paver machines.
Furthermore, she highlighted that additional machinery, including vibration rollers, milling machines, graders, and others, will be arriving shortly. The project is set to benefit from precise runway readings conducted by the surveyor team, assuring that the contractor, IDC, will deliver a high-quality outcome.
