A special delegation from the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas), led by Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar (Rtd.), Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, and H.E. Omar Alieu Touray, met with the coup leaders in the Niger Republic on Thursday. The primary objective of the delegation was to expeditiously resolve the current political impasse in the country.
The delegation was dispatched to the Niger Republic with a mandate from President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the political crisis in the nation. Ecowas is actively engaging with the coup leaders in an effort to find a resolution and restore stability in the country.
