Enyimba, the Nigeria Premier League champions, have made the decision to part ways with their head coach, George Finidi, despite his success in leading the team to their ninth NPL title. Finidi, a former Nigerian international, served as the head coach for two seasons, achieving the league title in his first season and reaching the CAF Confederation Cup final in his second.
The club’s announcement of the dissolution of the technical crew came via a statement signed by sporting director Ifeanyi Ekwueme. However, the statement did not provide a specific reason for Finidi’s dismissal. Instead, it stated that all coaches were asked to re-apply for their positions within 48 hours.
It’s worth noting that the Abia State Government recently appointed former Super Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu, as the new chairman of Enyimba, signaling potential changes within the club’s leadership.
