EPL: Ruben Amorim Reflects on Man Utd’s 2-2 Draw Against Tottenham

Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, expressed frustration over his team’s performance following their 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

United initially took the lead through Bryan Mbeumo in the first half. However, Tottenham responded with two late goals from Mathys Tel and Richarlison, putting pressure on the Red Devils. United managed to salvage a point when Matthijs De Ligt scored a towering header after being involved in the play that led to Tel’s goal.

Amorim reflected on missed opportunities, stating:
“During the game, the three points were there for us. But with injuries to Harry Maguire and Casemiro and conceding two goals, we had to settle for a point. When you can’t win, at least you don’t lose. Today, we had the chance to win, but we need to grow as a team.”

He highlighted the team’s lack of pressing and urgency in the second half:
“We were not pressing with the same intensity as in the first half. We felt comfortable, but we need more bravery to close out games. Sometimes you play better in the first half than the second, and that happened today.”

The draw leaves Manchester United reflecting on areas for improvement as they aim to convert dominant performances into wins in future matches.
