In a scathing statement, former spokesperson for the defunct new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, declares an end to the political aspirations of Nyesom Wike, the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, asserting that Wike is no longer relevant in the politics of the state and Nigeria at large.
Eze, in his critique, highlights that Wike’s alleged antecedents have become well-known, cautioning that anyone aligning with him does so at their own peril. He dismisses Wike’s ambitions to become the “Jagaban” (a political godfather) of Rivers State, insisting that Rivers can never be like Lagos.
Expressing surprise at President Bola Tinubu’s involvement in what he calls undemocratic actions during the Rivers State Peace Accord between Governor Fubara and Nyesom Wike, Eze accuses Tinubu of turning his back against the Nigerian constitution and the people of Rivers State to cater to Wike’s ego.
Eze questions Tinubu’s democratic credentials, suggesting that the recent developments in the so-called Peace Accord were strategically orchestrated to undermine Wike’s political fortunes. He acknowledges Tinubu for allegedly achieving what many political leaders couldn’t – diminishing Wike’s influence in Rivers State.
Eze contends that the truce offered by President Tinubu is an attempt to buy over Rivers State, but warns that it will be resisted by the citizens who are now aware of the perceived political machinations. He concludes by asserting that Wike’s political relevance has come to an end, and Rivers State will not succumb to becoming a replica of Lagos.
