Former Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has expressed his appreciation for the G5 or Integrity Group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for their role in President Bola Tinubu’s victory during the 2023 presidential election. However, Fayose clarified that the G5 has no intention of defecting from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), but rather believes that the PDP should focus on resolving internal issues.
In an interview with Channels TV on Sunday, July 9, Fayose praised the public service record of former Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike and asserted that Wike has the qualifications to be a minister and should serve in President Tinubu’s administration.
Fayose emphasized his support for Wike’s inclusion in the cabinet, stating that Wike is articulate, capable, and possesses the necessary qualities to serve Nigeria. He expressed hope that Tinubu would recognize the value that Wike and the G5 Group bring and urged Wike to seize the opportunity to contribute to national development.
Fayose further described Wike as a fearless leader who confronts challenges and asserted that Wike’s inclusion in Tinubu’s government would be beneficial for Nigeria. He concluded by stating that he, as Wike’s senior colleague, supports and believes in Wike’s capabilities, emphasizing that Wike is an asset to the country.
