In a proactive move to ensure public safety during the festive season, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed personnel to worship and recreational centers, as well as other public places across the territory.
The announcement was made by the Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, in a statement issued on Thursday. Adeh revealed that the deployment of personnel was in response to the directive from the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba.
The Commissioner convened a meeting with Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers in the FCT, during which he charged them to take necessary measures to guarantee a crime-free environment throughout the Christmas and New Year celebrations. CP Haruna Garba emphasized the adoption of intelligence-led and visibility policing strategies, aligning with global best practices, to effectively clamp down on criminal elements in all areas within the Federal Capital Territory.
In his directive, Garba urged FCT residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies. He emphasized the importance of reporting emergencies or any suspicious activities promptly. The FCT Police Command provided dedicated contact numbers for residents to reach out in case of emergencies or to report any suspicious incidents: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883.
The increased police presence and strategic measures underscore the commitment of the FCT Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of residents and visitors during the festive period. The public is encouraged to collaborate with law enforcement authorities to maintain a secure and peaceful environment throughout the yuletide season.
