The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has initiated the distribution of 12,000 bags of rice and maize to over three million residents living in the six area councils of the territory. FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, announced this during a distribution ceremony in Kwali Area Council, revealing that each council would receive 2,000 bags of rice and maize.
The distribution of food items is part of the ongoing effort to provide palliatives to vulnerable residents in the nation’s capital. Wike emphasized that previous distributions have already reached various groups, including area councils, representatives of 17 Chiefdoms, religious organizations, civil servants, and vulnerable communities.
The FCT Minister stated that the distribution aligns with the renewed “hope agenda” of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, aiming to instill hope for a better future for all Nigerians. The initiative aims to bring food items closer to the people and provide direct assistance to vulnerable groups, taking place concurrently in all six Area Councils of the FCT.
