For top Nigerian lender, Fidelity Bank PLC, it was time once more to appreciate its customers while also showcasing its exploits in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The event, held last night at Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, was themed “Give Them Wings”. Fidelity Bank MD/CEO Nnamdi Okonkwo threw light on the theme in his welcome address at the star-studded event. He said: “A lot of people have aspirations; gone to school but have no jobs and ways to make their dreams come true. We decided that apart from promoting SMEs, we also have to empower youths. We even have a youth academy. Fidelity Bank has been supporting people who ordinarily would have been a problem to the rest of the society.”
Okonkwo highlighted some of the achievements of the 32 years old bank, noting that it has been “growing from strength to strength.” “We set strategies for ourselves and we dare say that it has been turning out well,” he said. He identified the bank’s recent milestones to include local and international recognitions and honours, including by CBN Bankers Committee.
But that is not all. “Fidelity Bank is the bank with the greatest number of female executives. SME is our forte and we continue to regenerate,” he said.
The event held at the expansive EKO Convention Centre featured awards and was anchored by veteran actress Kate Henshaw and popular host Ebuka Ibi-Uchendu. There were performances by a host of artistes, among them Niniola, KC and Tim Godfrey.
Among dignitaries that graced the event were Rotimi Amaechi and Aliko Dangote.
