Super Eagles assistant coach, Finidi George, attributed the team’s victory over Cote d’Ivoire in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to discipline and a tactical switch in formation. Speaking after the match, Finidi emphasized the players’ adherence to instructions and their execution of a tactical game plan against the hosts.
According to Finidi, the team employed a strategic approach, adjusting their formation and focusing on counter-attacks from the flanks to counter Cote d’Ivoire’s possession-based style. Despite the victory, Finidi emphasized that nothing has been achieved yet, and the team will stay focused and work harder in the upcoming match against Guinea Bissau.
Nigeria, currently ranked second in Group A, is set to face Guinea-Bissau in their third and final Group A match on Monday at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny in Abidjan. The Super Eagles aim to maintain their momentum and secure a strong position in the tournament.
