Flamingos Schedule Friendlies with Paraguay, New Zealand Ahead of 2025 U-17 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have lined up two crucial international friendlies against New Zealand and Paraguay as part of their build-up to the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

According to the schedule, the Flamingos will face New Zealand on Friday, October 10, before taking on Paraguay in another warm-up match on Tuesday, October 14.

Head coach Bankole Olowookere is expected to use the matches to assess his squad’s readiness and fine-tune tactics ahead of the global competition.

The team is set to depart Abuja on Wednesday morning via Royal Air Maroc for Morocco, where they will conclude the final phase of their preparations.

Nigeria’s Flamingos are drawn in Group D of the tournament alongside Canada, France, and Samoa, a grouping many analysts have described as competitive but winnable.

The upcoming friendlies are seen as vital tests for the young Nigerian side as they aim to surpass their impressive third-place finish at the 2022 edition.
