The Bayelsa State Governor’s Football Tournament, popularly known as the “Prosperity Cup,” came to a thrilling end with the final games taking place at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa. The grassroots football spectacle, organized by the state government, saw 214 teams compete across 24 centers in eight local government areas.
In the men’s final, Crusaders Feeders FC from Ekeremor LGA clashed with De Grace FC of Yenagoa, resulting in an intense match that showcased the region’s football talent. The tournament aimed to promote youth engagement and sports development in the state.
The closing ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri and Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. Other notable figures from the football community attended, such as NFF President Mr. Ibrahim Gusau and NFF Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen.
The Prosperity Cup also featured a women’s final between Golden Sun Sports Academy and Crystal Stars FC. The tournament provided an opportunity for young female athletes to showcase their skills and passion for football.
