Former Edo South Senator, Ehigie Uzamere, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending his long-standing association with the party.
In a resignation letter dated October 7, 2025, and addressed to Mr. Osaigbovo Godspower, chairman of Ward 12, Ovia North-East Local Government Area, Uzamere said his decision was based on conviction and a renewed desire to continue serving his people under a platform that better aligns with his ideals.
Uzamere, who was first elected to the Senate on the platform of the PDP in 2007 and re-elected under the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2011, described politics as “a vehicle for service and representation.”
He explained that the changing dynamics of Nigeria’s political landscape made it necessary to seek a new direction that fits his vision for effective leadership.
“My decision is driven by conviction, not animosity, and by a continued commitment to the service of our people,” he stated.
“I remain guided by my philosophy of Aiguiyekampe — politics without bitterness.”
The former lawmaker expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities and experiences gained during his time with the party.
Uzamere, a known ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, was recently spotted at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) inaugural meeting in Edo State, fueling speculation about his next political move.
