Abdurasheed Bawa, the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been released from detention. He was taken into custody by the Department of State Service (DSS) on June 14, 2023, shortly after his suspension from the position of EFCC Chairman by President Bola Tinubu. The suspension was made on the grounds of alleged abuse of office.
Throughout his detention, the Department of State Service did not formally file any charges against him or specify the nature of his alleged offense. Abdurasheed Bawa was released on Wednesday night.
