Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and former Governor of Kano State, has responded to Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate past Governor of Kano state, who claimed he would have slapped Kwankwaso at the Presidential Villa. Kwankwaso dismissed Ganduje’s remarks, describing him as a confused individual.
In an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, Kwankwaso stated that he recently had a two-hour meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, where he presented evidence of alleged land deals and other misconduct during Ganduje’s administration in Kano state. He claimed that the President was taken aback by the revelations.
Kwankwaso further accused Ganduje of allocating lands at the Kano Race Course to his friends and family members, which has hindered sporting activities and other exercises. He also criticized Ganduje for allowing shops to be built around the Eid praying ground, compromising its security and sanctity.
Regarding the new administration, Kwankwaso mentioned the possibility of opposition members being engaged in the Tinubu administration and did not rule out the chance of being included in the forthcoming ministerial list.
It is clear that there is ongoing tension and political rivalry between Kwankwaso and Ganduje, with Kwankwaso dismissing Ganduje’s threats and highlighting alleged misconduct during Ganduje’s tenure as Governor of Kano state.
