Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been remanded in Kuje Correctional Facility by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama, Abuja. The remand order was issued by Justice Hamza Muazu following Emefiele’s arraignment and his plea of not guilty to a six-count amended charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Muazu considered arguments on Emefiele’s bail application and subsequently adjourned the case until November 22 for the ruling on the bail application and November 28 for the commencement of the trial. Emefiele faces charges brought by the EFCC, and his remand in Kuje Correctional Facility is pending further legal proceedings.
