Following the affirmation of his victory by the Supreme Court, Governor Alex Otti has pledged to settle down and focus on rebuilding Abia State, citing the absence of distractions after the legal challenges.
Otti made this declaration at a Thanksgiving Service held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA), Eastern Union Conference Headquarters, in Abayi Umueze, Osisioma local government area (LGA). Expressing gratitude for the Supreme Court’s decision, Otti emphasized his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by Abia State.
“Now that the distractions are over; now that the storm is over, I will settle down and rebuild Abia,” he affirmed.
The governor highlighted that he contested elections three times due to the shame he faced when confronted about the state’s condition. Otti recounted winning the election on two occasions but having his mandate allegedly stolen, causing people to lose hope in his chances of becoming governor.
“We have been through this journey, and today we are here as the Supreme Court has confirmed that we won the election,” Otti stated.
He expressed gratitude to the church for honoring him and encouraged the people to continue believing in God’s power to achieve great things.
Earlier in the service, Dr. Robert Osei-Bonsu, the President of the West/Central African Division of the SDA Church, emphasized the importance of unity within the church to fulfill its purpose.
